Air conditioning warranties on new systems
All new air conditioning systems will come with a manufacturer’s warranty. However, the length and terms of the warranty will vary so when you are looking for a new system and an installer, it’s worth going into detail so that you understand what the warranty covers and for how long.
A new air conditioning system is a business investment so it’s essential that you choose a solution that will not only provide you with energy-efficient climate comfort but will also give you peace of mind and lower costs in the long term.
Manufacturer warranties
Leading air conditioning manufacturers come with warranties that provide mechanical part repair and replacement – generally for around 5-7 years. They will also cover mechanical breakdowns due to faulty parts during the term of the warranty. However, most will state that the manufacturer’s warranty is only valid if the system is regularly maintained.
Installer warranties
Air conditioning installers may offer additional protection with separate warranties that cover breakdown, repairs, parts, and labour. It’s worth noting that a cheap, short-term warranty will not compare with a fully comprehensive, long-term warranty. Remember, a 1-year warranty will soon expire and you won’t be covered for a breakdown, parts or labour if you forget to renew or replace it.
